Monroe defeats Erie to wrap up regional title

BUFFALO - The top-ranked MCC ice hockey team completed a season sweep of rival Erie, topping the Kats 7-2 Tuesday night.

The victory wraps up the Region III title for Monroe and the team to a perfect 10-0 record against regional opponents.  MCC is 20-3 overall.

Mike Boyd (Vancouver, BC/Sullivan Heights) paced the attack with a hat trick for the Tribunes.  Erich Haney (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added two goals.

Rasmus Nilsson (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Elof Lindalvs) made 33 saves in goal.

Connor Smith (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) and Zach McDonald (Billings, MT/Skyview) also scored for the Tribunes.
