MCC defeats Stratton to clinch home field

ROCHESTER - The MCC men's soccer team defeated Bryant & Stratton 1-0 Wednesday to wrap up home field for the Region III championship.

The Tribunes (9-2-1) will host either Stratton or Mercyhurst North East on Oct. 29 for the regional title.  The game time will be announced soon.

Monroe struck just before halftime to break a scoreless tie.  Gianluca Cuomo (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) fed a perfect pass to Abe Barry (Henrietta, NY/Greece Olympia).  Barry beat the Bobcat keeper to make it 1-0 at the break.

The Tribunes made it stand up the rest of the way en route to the team's sixth consecutive shutout.

Vinnie Cainth (London, England/Albany) made three saves in goal for Monroe.  He was aided by a strong defense, led by Seamus Sharkey (Newtown, Ireland/St. Eunans).
