Huge second half fuels MCC to regional title
ROCHESTER - The Monroe Community College men's soccer team erupted for four straight second-half goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Bryant & Stratton in the Region III, Division I championship Saturday.
The Tribunes (13-3-1) now advances to the Northeast District tournament, which will be held next week at a location to be announced. The winner of districts moves on to nationals. 
It is the third consecutive regional title and 17th overall for Monroe. Head coach Nelson Cupello was named the Region III Coach of the Year.
The game was scoreless until the 61st minute, when an MCC player was taken down in the box. Seamus Sharkey (Newtown, Ireland/St. Eunans) converted the penalty kick to give the Tribunes a 1-0 lead.
MCC tacked on three more goals to blow the game open. Adriano Negri (Vancouver, BC/Templeton), Gianluca Cuomo (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), and Abe Barry (Henrietta, NY/Greece Olympia) all scored to make it 4-0.
Barry also assisted on the other goals on his way to earning Tournament MVP honors. Cody Winter (North Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) chipped in with an assist as well.
Eddie Bower (Holley, NY/Holley) made eight saves in goal to pace the Tribune defense. The Bobcats broke the shutout with 43 seconds left in regulation.
