Why Participate in Orientation? Believe . . . Achieve . . . Discover . . . Monroe Community College is always growing and developing to ensure that the students have the best experience that they can have while pursuing their academic goals. Every year there are new majors, programs, and services that are developed to enhance the collegiate experience for students. This is why it is important for you to attend New Student Orientation. MCC may have changed very drastically since the time when your parents, other family members, or friends attended.  New Student Orientation is the first step to ensure you a successful transition to or back to higher education. Being new to an environment can be intimidating and often times seems very challenging. New Student Orientation will ease those fears by introducing you to other new students and also provide you the opportunity to interact with other students like your Student Government Association President, the Peer Mentors, and a variety of students from various clubs and organizations. You will be introduced to some typical college issues and challenges that students may face and provided with suggestions and advice as to how to overcome them. You will have the opportunity to receive answers to all your questions and learn from Peer Mentors what it takes to be a successful student inside and outside of the classroom. Outside of the classroom activities (commonly referred to as Co-Curricular) are an important part of a student’s experience. During Orientation, members from Campus Life will provide students with various ways to be involved on campus. You can learn how to gain valuable leadership experiences as well as what opportunities exist for you to earn scholarships to assist financially while you are at MCC or after you transfer to a four year college or university. By participating in Orientation, you will be much more comfortable when your classes begin because you will be familiar with the campus, offices, and services. For those that choose to attend Orientation, you will also have a new network of friends whom share in your experience as a new or returning student.
